Campinas

Campinas is a city and county located in the interior of the state of São Paulo, Brazil. Its metropolitan area, defined in 2000, has some 19 cities and a population of 2.8 million people. Campinas is also the administrative center of the meso-region of the same name, with 3,783,597 inhabitants (2010 Census) and 49 cities. The Viracopos International Airport connects Campinas with many Brazilian cities and also operates some international flights. The city is home to the State University of Campinas, usually referred to as "UNICAMP".
